If you want to get started with Invisalign at our dental office, the first step is for Dr. Morgan Nordstrom to perform a full evaluation of your teeth and bite. She will also discuss your concerns about your smile and talk through how you would like to see it change.
Once you’re ready to begin, our Vallejo dentists will take digital images and impressions of your teeth for the Invisalign dental lab.
When Invisalign receives all of your information, a specialized laboratory will make your aligner trays to move and straighten your teeth gradually. Dr. Nordstrom will discuss how frequently you should change your trays and how often you need to have regular dental visits so that we can move your Invisalign treatment along at the right pace.
You will typically receive a handful of aligners at once, and you will progress through the aligners on your own between dental visits before returning to our dental office for a checkup. If you have an “average” Invisalign case, you can expect to wear approximately 25 or 30 different sets of trays for about two weeks each.
A general rule of thumb is to wear your trays for at least 22 out of every 24 hours. You should always take them out to eat and to brush your teeth. Because your trays are removable, keeping your teeth clean is easy. You can brush and floss without needing to use specially designed floss or mini toothbrushes.
How long your treatment takes depends on how far your teeth need to move and your compliance with wearing your Invisalign aligners. Because Invisalign fits your teeth snugly, getting used to wearing your trays should be easy. You’ll be able to talk normally with just a little practice, and you will eventually forget that you’re even wearing braces!
Invisalign for Teens and Adults
Invisalign in Vallejo is an excellent choice for older teens and adults who want straighter teeth.
If you’re asking yourself, “Is Invisalign right for me?” the answer is most likely “yes” if you’re willing to commit to wearing your trays every day and visiting your dentist regularly for necessary exams. Invisalign works well for patients who are:
- In good overall oral health
- Willing to wear their aligners at all times other than when cleaning their teeth or eating
- Working professionals or in social situations where standard braces would be inconvenient
When traditional orthodontics do not fit into your life, Invisalign clear aligners are a great option. They work through a similar concept as traditional braces by gently moving your teeth a little at a time. The difference is that Invisalign does not require wires or brackets. All you need are your clear aligner trays and regular visits to our Vallejo dental office to monitor your progress!
